Marantz has announced two new midrange AV receivers with the SR5006 and SR6006.

Marantz SR6006

Both come with 3D compatibility, wired network connectivity via Ethernet so you can get internet radio and stream content from your PC via your home network. You can also get access to subscription web-based services and there’s AirPlay capability too so you can stream via iTunes or from your iPhone/iPod/iPad. Both machines can also be controlled using the free Marantz Wizz iPhone app.

The SR5006 offers 7 x 100 watts, includes six HDMI 1.4 inputs (plus one output) and has decoders for all the current HD audio formats. Automatic set-up is via Audyssey’s MultEQ system and via a new on-screen Set-up Wizard, and other features include Dynamic Volume, multi-room capability (two rooms) and a video-off mode for music listening.

The higher-specced SR6006 also offers 7 x 110-watts output, but it has seven HDMI 1.4 inputs and two outputs. Audyssey MultEQ XT calibration is on board as is analogue and HDMI upscaling to 1080p. There’s direct digital USB input for iOS devices and the latest version of the Marantz Dynamic Expander (M-DAX2) which is designed to improve the sound of compressed music sources. There’s a dedicated turntable input too, and it can provide the sounds for up to three different zones.

Both the Marantz SR5006 and SR6006 will be available in black or silver finishes from mid-July. The SR5006 will cost £629, the SR6006 will cost £849.
