The system also offers 80 watts per channel (RMS) and like Pure’s pricier radios, it includes the company’s Clearsound technology, with Class D amplifiers and digital audio shaping technology for “clear, dynamic audio, higher volume levels and low power consumption”.

Internet connection can either be wireless via Wi-Fi or by Ethernet cable, and can be linked to a networked computer or media server for streaming your music collection around the house, or for playing thousands of internet radio stations from around the world.

It can also access Pure’s online portal, The Lounge, with its cloud music service, FlowSongs, which can recognise songs played on the radio and allow you to buy them directly online.

Other features include a USB input for flash drives, two auxiliary inputs, composite video output, OLED display and RF remote control.

The Pure Sirocco 550 is available now for £350.
