CEDIA EXPO 08: Infinity showcases new flagship loudspeaker Prelude Forty

September 04, 2008 — Article

To celebrate their 40th anniversary, Infinity Systems has introduced at the CEDIA EXPO 2008 their new Prelude Forty. In what is heralded as one of the most “significant product introductions in the company’s history”, this top of the line loudspeaker offers many technological innovations such as Maximum Radiating Surface (MRS) flat-panel loudspeaker technology that delivers exceptional sound reproduction while allowing the distinctively elegant slim profile design which is a show-stopper.

Innovation is the buzz word. The four MRS flat panel midrange drivers are built using Infinity Systems propriety Ceramic Metal Matrix Diaphragm (CMMD) material, which is comprised of an anodized ceramic compound on both sides of an aluminium core for ultra-low mass and ultra-high rigidity. Numerous of additional refinements include two large elliptical voice coils (instead of one) with powerful neodymium magnets for maximum contact and superior coupling offering increased efficiency and dynamic capability. The MRS driver also has its unique Same-Plane Surround suspension to reduce audible distortion. The Prelude Forty tweeter also uses the CMMD technology with a frequency response beyond 40kHz !

Available in various finishes, the Prelude Forty will carry a SMRP of $6.000 each in the US. Elsewhere availability and local taxes may vary.
