January 07, 2011 — Article

Samsung has announced three new TV ranges, all of them capable of showing 3D images and incorporating the company’s Smart technology.

Samsung D8000

The D8000 and D7000 are both LED-lit LCD TV ranges with a new ultra-narrow 5mm bezel design which ensures there’s very little TV surrounding the screen.

The D8000 Series comes with Samsung’s new 3D glasses with Bluetooth connectivity and the TwinView Touch Control TV remote, which Samsung says is the world’s first TV touchscreen remote that can also stream independent content to its built-in 3in TV screen, almost like a second TV screen.

Almost all models in both ranges bigger than 40in include the Smart Hub internet interface which has featured in almost all of Samsung’s larger TVs recently. The latest features include a search all function which makes it easier to search for content on your TV, devices connected to your home network and the internet, Your Video, which delivers recommendations based on your viewing history, full web browsing customised for TV and Samsung Apps, ‘the world’s first and largest TV apps store’.

There are also plasma versions on the way, showing that Samsung is still keen on the technology. The D8000 and D6900 plasma screens will also featuring the new narrow bezel and Smart technology.

Andy Griffiths, Vice President of Consumer Electronics, Samsung UK, said: “People want to stay connected to people and information that is important to them, and our latest line-up reflects a vision where smarter technology virtually and physically connects users through shared moments in the comfort of their homes.”
