KEF adds new system to T series

KEF has announced a second home cinema speaker system for its just-launched slim profile T Series with the T205.

KEF T205

This more powerful version of the discreet system uses larger front speakers than those from the previous T105, and has been developed from concepts first pioneered in the company’s super high end Concept Blade loudspeaker.

T301 speakers provide the front left and right channels, which stand at 60cm tall and incorporate dual 11.5cm mid/bass units along with a 25mm tweeter. Between them sits a T301c centre speaker which features the same driver configuration, but on its side.

The mid/bass driver in each of the speakers features a new slimline design with a flat, rigid diaphragm surrounded by, rather than in front of, the suspension and magnet system. KEF claims this arrangement allows the speaker to deliver all the power and performance of a standard speaker, but allows it to be incorporated into a speaker that’s three times thinner, in this case just 2.7cm.

The rear channels use KEF’s T101 surround speakers, and the subwoofer is the T-2, which includes a 25cm bass unit and a built-in 250-watt Class D amplifier.

The KEF T205 system is available now for £1,500.
