Yamaha stereo amps and CD player

September 20, 2010 — Article

Yamaha has announced two new stereo amplifiers and a CD player for autumn release.

Yamaha A-S500

Both the A-S500 and A-S300 feature a similar look to Yamaha’s four-figure A-S2000, with their retro-style control knobs, while the ToP-ART and ART Base chassis construction are designed to protect audio signals from noise and vibration.

Both have dual aluminium-extruded heat sinks for cooling and a centre bar reinforces the internal structure to prevent vibration from affecting the sound quality.

There’s a Pure Direct mode for the shortest signal route and gold-plated speaker terminals, as well as a built-in iPod Dock with an independent power supply. There’s also a subwoofer out connection to add more bass. The A-S500 offers 85Wx2 RMS while the A-S300 is a 60W x2 RMS design

Optional accessories include the YDS-12 Universal Dock for iPod/iPhone and the YID-W10 which incorporates Yamaha’s AirWired wireless Technology with real time transmission and lossless sound quality.

The CD-S300 CD player promises a pure direct mode, intelligent digital servo with iPod and USB compatibility, plus the ability to play MP3/WMA files and CD-R/RW discs.

All the models will be available in black or silver towards the end of September. The A-S500 will cost £329, the A-S300 and CD-300 will cost £229 each.
