Olive Opus 4 CD digital music system

US firm Opus has been displaying the latest version of its Opus digital music system at last weekend’s Manchester Show.

The Opus 4 can copy and store up to 6,000 CDs on its built-in hard drive and play them back too, though you’ll need to add your own pair of active speakers or stereo system.

It can connect to your home network via Ethernet and by adding an optional Melody multiroom music player, it can supply music for up to 15 different rooms. In common with the Sonos multi-room system, it also now includes an iPhone app that allows you to control the system via your phone, as well as the supplied remote.

The main unit is clad in fine-grade aluminium and includes a large 4.3in touchscreen display for easy menu navigation. The standard ripping format is lossless FLAC for the highest possible audio encoding, though you can also save CDs as WAV, MP3 or AAC files.

The Olive Opus 4 is available from next month in three different sizes: 500GB Opus (£1,500), 1TB (£1,800) and 2TB unit (£2,000).
