Waterfall Serio loudspeaker

French speaker manufacturer Waterfall has announced a new bookshelf version of its distinctive glass speakers, the Serio.

Unlike its larger cousins, the Serio isn’t encased in a glass cabinet, but instead features a flat glass perimeter around the sealed speaker unit. It comes with either black, white or silver, with green or orange ‘fashion’ grilles also available.

The diminutive speaker measures just 125 x 125×85mm but can handle up to 150 watts of power and features a frequency response of 180Hz-20kHz. It can be wall or stand-mounted as well as sitting neatly on a bookshelf or desktop.

The Serio incorporates Waterfall’s own Heatstream technology which the company claims offers incredible efficiency by coupling the speaker’s voice coil to the unit’s aluminium body, increasing the heat dissipation from the 80mm Atohm driver.

The Serio will be available as a stereo pair or in two different speaker packages along with Waterfall’s HFC1 subwoofer, which outputs 150 watts of power through a single 9in bass driver.

The Serio is available later this month at £158 for a stereo pair, £949 for a 2.1 system (with the HFC1 compact subwoofer) or £1,449 for a 5.1 system.
