Pioneer Series 3 speakers

October 01, 2009 — Article

Pioneer’s new speaker package is intended to ‘satisfy music as well as design lovers’ with its smart, slim looks and precise sound reproduction.

The Series 3 range offers a full home cinema set-up and consists of the S-31 floorstander, the S-31B bookshelf speaker and the S-31C centre speaker, all available in a light or black wood coloured finish and with flush-mounted, removable grilles.

The S-31 features a down-firing bass port and techniques inherited from the company’s luxury EX series, including ABD (Acoustic Balance Drive) and AFAST (Acoustical Filter Assisted System Tuning) simulation technologies. The company claims that these, along with the speakers’ asymmetrical cabinet design, completely eliminates vertical standing waves usually responsible for uneven, boomy or sucked out bass response, delivering precise and dynamic bass with no low midrange colouration.

French product designer Steeve Senescat, who was responsible for the EX series, has also included new soft dome tweeters and glass fibre cone bass/mid drivers in each of the models.
Prices are still to be announced, but the Pioneer Series 3 should be with us in November.
