Toshiba unveil CELL TV more than just a picture (CES 2010)

January 21, 2010

Highlights

Toshiba are featuring the powerful CELL TV engine that drives all of their new TV’s. Offering 143 times the processing power available in current TV models this offers incredibly enhanced picture quality for the clearest possible 1080p full HD picture.

New circuitry called AutoView™ combines an ambient light sensor and an RGB sensor to automatically set the brightness, contrast, gamma, sharpness, colour saturation and now colour temperature to ensure the best possible picture in any lighting condition.

With a built-in 1TB HDD, BD Player, and Wi-Fi capability, CELL TV can store your favourite media content (video, music, pictures, etc.), and then display it, or transmit it to other DLNA displays in your home. Content can be downloaded from the Internet, transferred from your PC, or recorded directly onto the HDD.

It can even handle the much talked about 3D by utilising a Frame Sequential System that alternates from 240Hz in 2D mode, to 120Hz for the right eye and 120Hz for the left eye in 3D mode. It’s compatible with multiple 3D input formats, including MPEG4-MVC and RealD. When true 3D content isn’t available, CELL TV can convert any 2D content into 3D in real time allowing you to watch everything in 3D.

The flagship ZX900 is the first CELL TV series and will be available in a 55" and 65"screen featuring a sleek Set-top Box, and a new Genesis Design display with a black brushed aluminium bezel with acrylic trim. All have the new KIRA2 Super Local Dimming LED Display giving a “Twice as Bright” picture.
