Wharfedale Diamond 10 speaker range

Speaker specialists Wharfedale have announced a full range of speakers to accompany the 10.1 bookshelf speaker revealed in June. The new 16-strong Diamond 10 series includes a further two standmount models, plus five floorstanders, three types of centre speaker, two satellite speakers and three active subwoofers.

Wharfedale claims to have made significant improvements to virtually all aspects of its previous Diamond 9 series, including changes to the cabinets, drive units and crossover components. The new cabinets have been strengthened with an improved method of panel bonding to increase rigidity and internal bracing promises to reduce the possibility of panel resonance.
The stronger cabinets allow for an extra-large flange on the drive unit chassis to improve stability and there’s a new diamond pattern moulded into the surround of the drivers’ Kevlar cones which is designed to dampen standing waves and offer a cleaner high-frequency roll-off.

The soft-dome tweeters now feature a metal diffusion grid to iron out any high-frequency perturbations up to 30kHz and the larger speakers’ twin reflex ports have been moved to the rear, offering low-end frequencies down to 45Hz.

The Diamond 10 range will be available in August in a range of black, rosewood, cherry and walnut finishes.
