Both flavours of Cocoon work with all mobile devices using Apple iOS, Android or Windows via Denonʼs free app. AirPlay technology allows wireless streaming music to multiple Cocoons simultaneously while using iTunes. A similar feature is offered with Microsoft Windows Play To, letting you stream to the Cocoon from almost any PC, laptop or tablet.

A two-way speaker system, a large acoustic chamber, dual layer cones, bass ports and 4 x 25W class D amps combine with advanced DSP technology to deliver “exceptional sound” claims Denon.

On the interactive and connective fronts, the Cocoon automatically connects to the iOS usersʼ wireless home network. It has on board Internet radio and supports a wide range of audio formats (MP3/WMA/WAV/FLAC/LPCM) to access and play music stored on any PC, Mac or NAS drive connected to the network.

The unit’s exterior is sculptural and of course, cocoon-like with a highly polished transparent layer sitting above a high gloss layer, giving it a satisfying finish.

The Cocoon Home comes in either white or black while the Cocoon Portable is only available in black. For the portable model, a built-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery gives up to five hours playback while the design features promise resistance to water, sand or dust. It also has a carry handle and storage for the remote control.

Both Cocoons, Home and Portable are available now for £499.
