Dutch electronics giant Philips has expanded its Fidelio line-up with the wireless Hi-Fi AW range, Primo DS9100W sound dock and M1 headphones.
The new Philips Fidelio Primo DS9100W dock for iPod enjoys an extensively modified design, extended audio performance and now comes with the Apple Airplay wireless audio streaming system.
The distinctive, acoustically designed cabinet and quality drivers remain unchanged, but the new DS9100W is now bi-amped with a digital active crossover and completely redesigned bass ports.
The DS9100W also features AirPlay allowing audio streaming via iTunes from a computer, iPhone, iPad or iPodTouch, however, it is also possible to dock iDevices on the front of the speaker.
Philips claims the Fidelio Wireless Hi-Fi speaker models AW9000, AW5000 and AW3000 represent the ultimate solution for high definition wireless music at home. Offering premium sound quality and an unlimited stream of music from a smartphone, tablet, computer, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch as well as internet radio and online music services.
At its heart is a custom built Philips AirStudio app for Apple products, available free from the App store. This features a simple drag and drop format making it easy to connect the source and the speaker of your choice. To stream music from a Mac or PC you‘ll need to use the bundled Philips Media Manager software.
The new Philips Fidelio M1 headphones have been created to build on the success of the existing Fidelio L1 model, with revisions to the design, becoming smaller and lighter, with metal replacing many plastic components, thus improving rigidity and damping. The sound curve has also been tweaked to compete against high background noise.
The Fidelio M1 headphones are priced at £160 with the DS9100W available from August in John Lewis at £500.
The Fidelio AW3000, AW5000 and AW9000 are already available in John Lewis stores priced at £200, £300 and £500 respectively.
