Monitor Audio release its ultra-slim Shadow range

Essex-based Monitor Audio’s ultra-thin Shadow range of speakers is designed to match flat screen TVs and achieve what was once thought impossible – dynamic full-frequency sound from an inconspicuous or surreptitiously disguised source.

The four models in the Shadow range are conceived to work in pairs for music or home cinema where any number can be combined in acoustically matched surround systems. With depth of a mere 40mm, the Shadows marry slimline design with audio that promises all the natural dynamism and wideband response you’d expect from larger, more obtrusive speakers.

The series begins with the diminutive S25 rear channel speaker, increasing in size with the LCR-type S50, and the longer S60 (for 50in+ displays), to the dedicated Shadow Centre. All use new low-profile drivers, offering higher power handling and a wider frequency response than similarly sized conventional designs.

A flat, long-throw 4in RDT bass/mid driver and a specially vented 1in (25mm) C-CAM tweeter help keep them thin, and the three larger Shadow models also feature passive 4in aluminium Auxiliary Bass Radiators (ABRs) tuned for improved upper bass definition.

In matt black finish, each Shadow speaker is made from a single piece of precision machined aluminium providing rigidity and naturally low resonance. Designed for easy installation in either solid or stud walls using two direct-to-wall flush fixings, the speakers feature ‘invisible’ cable entry and connection, and removable magnetic grilles and end trims, concealing fixings and terminals.

The range will be available this month at these prices:
S25 £500 per pair
S50 £800 per pair
S60 £900 per pair
Shadow Centre £450 each
