Klipsch has announced the launch of a limited edition Signature headphone in honour of former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed.
The Klipsch Signature Audio Edition Lou Reed X10i headphone presents fans of the 70-year-old rocker with a unique opportunity to display allegiance by acquiring one of just 2,000 units worldwide.
The New Yorker, who rose to notoriety in Andy Warhol’s avant-rock outfit yet went on to carve out a distinguished solo career, said: “I have been a fan of Klipsch products for eons. I’ve always admired the unhyped bass, along with the clarity, depth of detail and extraordinary comfort of the company’s headphones. With Klipsch’s help, my dream headphone will soon be available to all of my fans – a serious model for the serious listener.”
The award-winning Image X10i is Reed’s favourite headphone, and has therefore been customised for the limited edition run in an eye-catching high-gloss purple finish with copper accents and a facsimile of the songwriter’s autograph.
The premium headphones are ideal for multitaskers, featuring an echo cancellation microphone for crystal clear conversations and a three-button remote to handle phone calls and playlists on the iPod, iPhone or iPad. Plus, as with all Klipsch in-ear headphones, the Image X10i enjoys the company’s patented soft oval ear tips for comfortable long-term wear, superior noise isolation and excellent bass.
“Being able to work so closely with Lou Reed on a project such as this is a dream come true for our brand and his fans,” said a proud Mike Klipsch, president of global operations for Klipsch.
The Klipsch Signature Audio Edition Lou Reed X10i headphones retail at £300 each from Apple stores. Each comes with an authentic, collectible autograph card.
