Hungarian-based technologists Heed Audio launched their respected Obelisk range in an eye-catchingly clean gloss white finish at this weekend’s Sound and Vision Show in Bristol.

Catering to a core market of die-hard audiophiles, Heed acknowledges that with 300m iTunes users worldwide, a great number of music fans now primarily manage their sound libraries via rips or downloads.

With this in mind, Heed’s designers have taken inspiration from the success of iPods, iPhones and Mac Minis and mirrored the popular polar look. The thinking is that this offers the modern computer-savvy music lover the opportunity to match their electronics to the finish of their computer, laptop or docked iPod, with no sacrifice to the listening experience.

Richard Hay, original designer of the Obelisk amplifier said: “Apple’s dominance of the portable computer market and the increase in hi-fi retailers and installers specifying Mac Minis has seen white audio products becoming the norm in people’s homes. Now with the compact Heed Obelisk range available in a matching white finish there is no need to sacrifice sound quality for aesthetic reasons.”

The line-up includes the entry-level Obelisk Si integrated amplifier (£730), rising to a full pre/power system comprising the Obelisk Pre, its dedicated PX power supply and multiple Obelisk PM mono power amplifiers (£1,450 each).
