Sharp has announced an updated version of its LC-80LE844U 80in LED TV.

Sharp Aquos LC-80LE844U

The Sharp Aquos LC-80LE844U 3D is top of the company’s LED TV range and is due to go on sale in the UK in April. Sharp says it’s the world’s first 80in 3D LED TV and it uses Sharp’s own Quattron technology, as well as full-array LED backlighting and a 240Hz refresh rate. It’s designed to be energy efficient too, and Sharp claims it costs just £14 a year to power.

It has Wi-Fi built-in, as well as Sharp’s new SmartCentral internet platform, which offers a growing range of services including Netflix, Hulu and YouTube.

Sharp also showed off its upcoming 4K LED TV, the ICC-4K, which uses ‘Integrated Cognitive Creation Technology’ and intelligently upscales from HD to 4K. It also displayed a concept 8K 85in display though there’s no word yet when or even if that will be coming to market.

Also on display at CES was Sharp’s XV-Z30000 3D High Definition projector, which uses Sharp’s own digital image processing ICs to reduce flicker, plus a six-segment, five-times-speed colour wheel, 1600 ANSI Lumen brightness and up to a 50,000:1 contrast ratio.

It comes with two pairs of 3D glasses, and will be on sale in the US this March for $5,000 (£3,250).
