IFA 2011: New Philips Fidelio for Android range

September 02, 2011 — Article

Philips has announced three new Android-oriented models for its Fidelio range.

Philips AS351

The new docks are the AS851, AS351 and AS111 and they’re derived from the existing Fidelio models optimised for use with Apple products such as the iPhone. The new versions will have a new connector that can be adjusted to hold virtually any Android smart phone (well, about 90 per cent of them) in both portrait and landscape positions.

It’s not a straightforward procedure. Since the mini-USB connection doesn’t handle audio, the Philips app for Android senses when your device is docked and makes a Bluetooth link for sending your music. This should happen automatically though, so you don’t need to do anything except plug it in.

All three models, AS851, AS351 and AS111, are in the ‘Fidelio for Android’ will cost €199, €129 and €79 respectively.
