Leema Acoustic’s first CD Player, the Antila, has received another upgrade to replace its drive mechanism and servo. The new Antila IIS follows last year’s overhaul to create the Antila II.

The company says the upgrade comes as a result of new parts and processes becoming available with the result that jitter is now halved to around 40pS @ 1kHz. New firmware also adds extra repeat and shuffle play modes to the player’s capabilities. As with the previous Antila II upgrade, this upgrade can be retrofitted for existing Antila owners.

Like the original, the Antila IIS is fully LIPS (Leema Intelligent Protocol System) compliant, allowing a press of the play button to power up the amplifier from standby and select the CD input. In a single-source system with Leema’s Hydra II power amplifier, the Antila IIS will also control the amplifier’s volume via LIPS commands.

The unique MD2 Active Differential Multi-DAC technology employs 20 24bit/192KHz multi-bit Delta-Sigma converters, which Leema claims improves linearity, reduces noise and minimises jitter.

Numeric inversion generates a fully balanced signal entirely within the digital domain intended to deliver reduced levels of noise and distortion.

The Leema Antila IIS is available now for £2,995. To upgrade the Antila II to IIS is £595 and for basic Antila to IIS is £995.
