IFA 2010: Altec Lansing iPod docks

September 08, 2010 — Article

Altec Lansing debuted two new iPod docks at the IFA technology fair in Berlin, including one with dual playback.

The Octiv 202 (pictured, £80) is a dual-dock system which uses the free downloadable Music Mix app to shuffle between songs from each player. You’ll need an iPod Touch or an iPhone to be able to use the app, which then allows others to add their tunes to the mix.

The more diminutive Octiv 102 (£40) also works with iPods and iPhones, and doubles as an alarm clock radio too, but can only connect to one device at a time. It also has downloadable apps though, with the free Alarm Rock app allowing you to wake up to a pre-set selection of tunes.

Also new from Altec Lansing are the weirdly named Muzx DNA series of earphones. The six new in-ear models, range in price from £20 to £100. Three of them, the Muzx Core, Muzx Extra and Muzx Ultra all include microphones for voice control, while the less expensive Mesh, XX and XY models have more of a fashion focus.

All of Altec Lansing’s new models will be available later this month.
