Mission Launches MX Speakers

Mission has launched its new MX Series of speakers.

Including both hi-fi and home cinema models, there are eight speakers in total, with active subwoofers to follow later. The stereo models include the standmount MX-1 (£150 per pair) and MX-2 (£200) and the floorstanding MX-3 (£350), MX-4 (£500) and MX-5 (£600).

These are joined by two centre channel speakers, the MX-C1 (£130) and MX-C2 (£180), as well as a compact surround model which can be wall, shelf or standmounted, the MX-S (£120 per pair).

Mission says that the new speakers have been designed especially with modern living rooms in mind, so they work well close to walls and offer wide dispersion for a larger sweet spot.

In all of the models, both bass and midrange drivers use cones fashioned from an advanced fibre formulation, which Mission claims provides excellent strength and rigidity. These are sonically topped by a 25mm silk dome tweeter which in the case of the standmounts is situated below the bass/mid driver in traditional Mission style. With the floorstanders the tweeter is positioned between the bass/mid drivers.

Any of the speakers can be bi-wired and the lower section of the floorstanders can be filled with sand for additional cabinet damping and stability.

The design for the new MX Series is down to Mission’s Peter Comeau. He said: "Mission’s ethos has always focused upon bringing audiophile performance down to an affordable level, and the MX Series exemplifies this. I’m convinced that, whichever MX speaker you select, you’ll want to explore your whole music collection all over again.”

The Mission MX Series will be available in black, cherry, rosewood and walnut finishes from August.
